Default stripping bolts on Grizz

I took the rear rack off and stripped the right fender/rack bolt when I put it back in. I figured that was my fault and went and bought a new bolt, broke that one putting it in, and finally drilled out the factory bolt and replaced it with another nut and bolt I had. Painted it black and now you can't tell it's different unless you look for it. Then today, I was gonna attempt to do the stock exhaust mod, and stripped the first hex bolt I took out. I stopped there and had to hammer it back in. Is this something that I am doing wrong, or are the bolts just that weak?

are you stripping the top of the it or the thread of the bolt?

If your stripping the top then you need a better sized wrench.

if your stripping the top you may not be holding the socket straight off of the bolt. just a little off and you can strip it easy. you may also not be using the right size socket or wrench.

I broke the head off a bolt, one of the bolts holding on the side cover that hte pull cord goes through.

I just sealed it with plumbers goop and moved on

Oh crap. I just did a bunch of work on my uncle's 454, and I swear I broke off at least 5 bolts on thing. But never fear, thats what those craftsman extractor bits are for. I've made good use of those over the years. Drill it out and stick one in the hole, tap it in there tight with a hammer, put a vice grip on it or something that you can get a good hold on it with and crank it back out. Even broke my 1/8 extractor and took it back to sears and they just gave me another one. Thats the thing about Craftsman, its not any better than anyone elses stuff, but you can go get another one if you break something.

Sorry I wasn't specific. I stripped the threads off, taking it out. I would think that it was sripped when it was put in, How does it strip coming out? But now, the female threads are gone and I had to hammer it back in there. So, now I am going to leave it alone until I have the pipe replaced.
