Warrior wierd noises
#1
My 01 Warrior was running fine and one day i started it up and it makes a sound like a tapping and rattling noise it comes between the engine and the head not sure what it is. Some one told me it could be the jets that i am running lean and might damage the valves but not sure it ran fine just starting making that noise when i turn it on.

It's either your valves, or may sound stupid, but my Top motor mount came loose and sounded exactly like a ticking valve. And it's right near both valves. If it's tight, I'd say it's time for a valve check up.

I have never adjust them but i did eairlier i used a gauge to check if they are set right and it readed .07 i checked my clymer manuals and seems to be adjusted i did check the head cover and there was oil leaking out of it. I will have to change the oil to see if it has to do with the viscosity of the oil might be too thin.

All Warriors have a ticking noise.
Unless its a deep sound its nothing to worry about. I had an 01 Warrior and always ticked a little bit. If its a ping-tick noise dont worry about. If its like a knock or something you might have probs

It sounds more like something is loose its very noticeable.like a constant knocking when i accelerate the sounds gets faster i do think is the valves but i have checked them and they are adjusted so im still scratching my head on this.

Now that I think about it, the nut off the top of my intake valve came off and make a very very loud ticking noise....I thought there never was one on it to begin with, and I ended up having to buy a new cam cuz the nut got caught in the camshaft and it snapped off the timing gear. But I remeber after putting a new nut on, when it was loose 2, it mticking noise. Check them to see if there loose....may be your problem right there.
