Default TRX450R or YFZ450?

ha... haha .......lol yah... Im givin them one last chance with the YFZ....

I had bad experiences with my raptor, most of it has been my dealers fault, and my own for moddin it out so much! I donno but im hopin that the reliablility on the YFZ is good cuz i dont plan on doin a whole slew of stuff to it, not like the raptor anyway!

Well, I am like you and have been eyeballing the yfz450 and trx450r. They are awesome quads, but way too pricey. I bought my 2000 Banshee for $2,300 and added some Rossier engine parts,K&N filter and box,FMF fatty,Hinson clutch, pro design intake, cool head
and updated my suspension with an extended +2 dura-blue axle and works triple rate shocks up front and a dual rate in back, also lonestar a-arms. I can beat a 440ex with pipe, jet and open air box by 5 quad lenghts in a 300 or so drag on loose dirt. The same 440ex owner claims to have edged a 04' yfz by a quad length in a similar race, but the yfz was stock, so he said.I would say that your choice should be based on your style or riding and riding ability. The four strokes are way more reliable, but they lack the top end punch of a two stroke. My quad has never been to Glamis or Pontiac hill, so I can't tell you how it would compare.I have raced some flat track and TT racing and ran some quads in a local sand pit and the fours were no problem, even the most extreme Raptors,Ex's and DS's. I havent' came across any yfz's or 450r's yet in these races, I guess because they are so new.I feel like a Yfz or 450r owner would have to spend more than what I have spent to beat my Banshee and that's the only reason I haven't bought one yet. Maybe I'm wrong. Guess I'll have to race one before I'm convinced.Oh yeah,I have ridden a stock yfz and it seemed to have accelerated as strong, if not stronger, than my Banshee did before I added the mods, but I did notice the top end wasn't as strong.

I've riden both and, I think they are very similar. It all comes down to preference. I'd personally go w/ the YFZ since i'm a Yamaha guy and, the electric start will come in handy. Both are great rides.

If your going for a trail quad you may miss reverse though.

I've ridden both, they're both great. The fit and finish is way better on the Yamaha and if you do any technical riding you'll hate that Honda kick start really quick!!

I can get a brand new YFZ here for $5800, or a 450R for $6000. Not much of a price difference really. Though, electric start and the fact that I like to ride on MX tracks has me leaning heavily towards a YFZ for now.

Thats awfully cheap. New raptors are going for about 5500 - 5800 around here.

Better overall quad? hahahaha, these type of threads make me want to leave this place, im really considering it... BTW, the yfz isnt faster, ive seen dynos. Oh well, im tired of trying to convince people that they dont know how good the trx really is but its pointless...

A whole 1 mph faster. I never said the trx is better, i just said that people arent giving it credit, which they arent. Also, EVERYONE knows the trx is a better overall quad, EVERYONE knows the yfz is more for mx, so that statement was umm, bs.

I got my kit installed by honda. Power is definatly greater, sounds much better, and i can clear almost every jump at the MX track in 2nd gear. HRC=equasion
