My new Raptor!!!
#12
I like to respond to these threads and I like to leave my raptor in first gear when i stop and just use the kill switch, it is just more convienient than hitting the key and when it is in gear the neutral light is out so i won't drain your battery and it won't roll away. I have been running 87 octane in my raptor and it works fine but i'm going to switch to 93/94 just to get a little more power since my friend's honda's are a tad faster than my quad, also getting a larger rear sprocket so that i can keep up to or pass one of them. Ya you got a great deal on your quad and trailer. I paid 4200 for my quad and it only had the basic aftermarket items minus a pipe.

Raptornaut,
You've got your info wrong.
Octane is not a thing that is added to the fuel. Octane is the name for the rating system used to identify the anti-knocking (detonation) characteristics of a particular fuel. It will not cause carbon build up. The octane number assigned to a fuel compares the anti-knock proprieties of that fuel to a mixture of iso-octane and normal heptane, however, there is more than one method of assigning a fuel a octane rating.
Even though you may feel like you have had no problems, you could well have caused undue stress on your engine as the fuel burns prematurely and puts greater stress on the internal parts of your motor, especially under a load (full throttle). I would only use the premium grade fuel recommended for the Raptor, not doing so could cause premature failure.

people have told me not to take it off because it will increase your rpms and screw up your engine.
