yfz starting problem
#1
My friend has a 04 YFZ 450, and he had the plastics off to get them painted, and he went out riding when it was muddy out, now it wont' start. He was washing it yesterday and noticed a wire that wasn't connected to anything. With that wiring unhooked the starter would turn over only with the headlight switch on high, but the headlights wouldn't come on and if he turned the switch off while holding the start button it will just quit turning over. He found a place where the wire might go, so he touched it there and the headlights came on but it wouldn't turn over with the wire in place. So what I need is anyone that may know what this wire is, or a wiring diagram, or someone that might just know what the hell is going on. We'd both really appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.

The wire turned out to be a ground wire that was hooked to a bolt on the plastics. And when the plastics were taken off the wire came unhooked, who would of thought. Well one of our friends just happened to notice, so he tried to touching the wire to a spot on the YFZ and guess what, it started and he had headlights again and all is well now. The plastics had been painted yellow with a prism sparkle so it really shines in the sun and looks really good, I'll try getting a picture of it to show it off. It's all put together now and he can start riding again. Thanks to those that tried helping with our problem. Atleast I have a service manual on my computer for a YFZ 450 now.

We have friend that works at a car dealership in the bodyshop. And they put some chemical in it that makes the paint flexible so it won't crack if that plastics bend. They used a air gun to put it all on. I can try to find out what kind of chemical they put in it and get some pictures of the YFZ.
