I think motors blown HELP

I just changed my oil this morning in my 2002 Raptor ( PITA, I might add) and drove it around for maybe 10-15 minutes and the throttle got stuck wide open. So I pulled in the clutch, shut her off and walked it home. I got it home, and started it and it shot to the rev limiter, so I fiddled with the throttle and it got unstuck and settled down. checked the oil again and it was on E, not totally empty but on E, so I added more oil and got it to where it was supposed to. Started it back up and it shot out blew burnt oil smoke everywhere. I thought maybe I got some in the cylinders and ride it out. So I started down my road, gave it gas, and it feels like a Yamaha breeze. There is hardly any power and its still smoking. PLEASE help. I hope I didnt blow it up. thanks guys

eeck! That does not sound good. I have not blown a quad up, but I have blown a motor in a 4 cylinder car before and it did just what you are saying. Oil out of the exhaust and smoke lots and lots of smoke, then no power. I hope quads work different than cars for your sake.

Well, just take it easy........... it sounds like you have a stuck valve. When it was reved up really high you probably broke something that holds one of your five valves in place. or you could of bent the valve making it stick. This happend to my buddys, it did the exact same thing. BLOWING SMOKE AND GUTLESS. IT could be a easy fix.

If a valve is stuck, how much am I looking at to get it fixed? I just lost my job 3 days ago so this is a REAL bummer. I dont have alot to spare. Plus, I was supposed to leave in 2 weeks for Wyanoka sand dunes in Oklahoma. So I am pretty pissed. Thanks for all your help guys.

If your good with engines then do the work yourself and save in labour costs.
A broken valve is alot better then a blown engine.

I just got it out again and fired it up. If a valve is screwed up what would the engine do? Because it revs fine, its only until I start riding it that it boggs down and has no power. It took about 3 minutes for the oil to start smoking, thats probably because it wasnt warm though right? Also, if my motor is shot, it wouldnt even rev would it? Ive been riding for 4 years, but motor work like that is something im not ready for. My buddy and his dad are going to help me. I figure if its a valve, I can take the whole top end out with them and take that much in to save me labor. I am so lost at this point. thanks again.

It probably wont cost as much to fix as you think. Even if you had to pay a shop to fix it. They dont usually charge all that much unless you just bring the bike in and say fix it. If you say, brought them the head and said can you replace this valve with this one im holding in my hand, the price goes down vastly.
