Yep, that is the problem. 01 models are different than all the other years.

PM me the numbers on the back of the CDI - Just to make sure. Also, did you try this on your stock Raptor? Both mine work great so if it works on one and not the other then its the bike or cdi. Also, do you have one of those kill switches on your bike?

I disconnected my kill switch before I ever installed the cdi. I had an after market spark plug wire so I changed it back to stock. I will get the numbers thanks. I hope to get a chance to try it on my stock raptor tonight.

Yes because if you had that kill switch installed when you had installed the cdi it would burn it up and cause the same symptoms. Also, you have to have the stock spark plug in it as well. I dont understand it but they say it will not work right unless you are back to stock with the coil, wires and plug.

I had read it on hear and in the instructions so all was done before the cdi went in. So I don't think that is the problem. I have a stock cdi and a ebay after market cdi both work fine. I'm going to drop my needle 1 slot to see if it changes anything. If it works on my stock raptor. Work should be 2 days and off 5. Some how someone along time ago messed that up.

Well it works on the stock raptor. Now what ? Can it be the reverse limiter? I have it grounded out and is the only thing I can think of that is different.

Oh my gosh. Yes that can cause it as well. I have the same thing from Ripper Racing and had to take that off. Yours is for the 02 and up so you have the right cdi. I have it checked it yet but I think if you raise the rev limiter on the CDI it raises the reverse one as well. This is what I was told but havent dug into it yet to actually find out.

It sounds like either your reverse wire isn't grounded or the wire for the P-Brake is grounding.
Did you try plugging in a stock CDI?
