Default YOUR raptor problems

01 Raptor will be four (4) years old on Sept. 12, 04 without any problems. Except headaches for my friends on there bikes (400exs LTZ400s, Banshee, Predator & lastly the TRX450r)!!!! And when I really want to hear the snap, crackle, & pop I jump aboard my KTM 525sx. I recall hearing problems with the Raptor when it first came out, but maybe I was one of the few lucky ones that didn't have any problem. My bike stayed stock for over 3 years & now I did a couple of things, but the most radical is adding a dirtbike & the competition never saw it coming. Nobody has never heard of KTM!!!! In all honesty all of the high-performance quads are very close in stock trim, so depending on what type of race the results could be determined by a riders experience. Take a KTM 525sx & line them up with any stock quad & every last quad will be eating dust very badly. Any doubters...please respond!!!

Default YOUR raptor problems

i have a problem, i own a 01 raptor. i recently upgraded the tranny and put a piston in myself. at first it wouldnt run. I figured it was the carbs so i bought a rebuild kit with all the jets and everything. now it runs, but after running it hard through the gears once (1st through 5th) it cuts out and wants to die. So i figured i wasnt getting enough gas to the float bowls so i drilled out the gas inlet on carb 2 and added a 2nd fuel petcock and line. Still happens, the floats are adjusted right and everything. It will run fine unless run at high rpms for a while, but just like trail riding it usually doesnt do it even if im hitting the throttle. i even was riding on ice one time just barley on the throttle and it happened. One time it died and i checked the oil and it started pouring out and it was kinda grey like some water got into it at some time. But then i rode it home at low rpms and checked the oil and it was right where it should be just a little lowbut still grey of course. Its like every time it dies the oil wants to pour out. i was wondering if the oil flow was restricted somehow. I didnt take the oil strainer off when i replaced the tranny (anctious to ride i guess). does ne one think that the oil pump could be holding the motor back. could it be that the pump was straining to pump the oil past the restiction. Any more ideas, its got good compression. Also i have a dynojet kit and airfilter. It does knock a little if you bring it up to about 5000 rpms and let off it will go ta ta ta ta ta ta ta and then stop. PLEASE HELP NOT TAKING TO SHOP
