Just like you cant get parts for a 250r anymore? pshhht. Besides, all they have to do is get them around emissions laws which is totally possible.

The 250R went out wayy before any 2 stroke ban, thats why parts are still readily available. And yes it is totally possible for them to make 2 strokes pass emissions BUT replacing them with a 4 stroke counterpart is much cheaper and easier.

Only thing I'm worried about after they stop making em is....where will I buy able to buy my mix at?!?!?! Because If they ban all the 2 strokes the companies might think it useless to sell the castor and synthetic oil. Unless they would be smart and keep making them. Hmmm......I'm praying I won't have to start saving my money for tons of big bottles of Maxima and Golden Spectro .

Up here in Canada, nobody is really worried about the emisions. Pollution isn't AS big of a issue here. We don't have tree huggers fighting to save the world as much as you guys do down is the states..

Yamaha, or any other manuficature will not stop production of 2-strokes for this simple reason. Only the USA is fighting to have them banned. Most other countries in the world have no problems with them. So for this reason, they will still be aviable, just people in certian countries (like the USA) will not be allowed to use them.

If its still possible to get leaded gas, im sure you would still be able to get premix for a long long time. A ban isint going to stop the parts supply, that wont stop until people stop buying the parts.

It would be cool if people still made 2 strokes after they are banned...Think about it drugs are banned, and how hard is it to go buy a bag?

This is NOT just an atv and/or dirt bike issue. The Environmental Protection Agency has already effectively banned the production & sale of two-cycle engines in the USA. Not sure of the timetable, but eventually we will be unable to buy LawnBoy 2-stroke mowers, any 2-stroke weedeater, or any 2-stoke outboard engine. Once there are NO more 2-strokes manufactured or sold in this country, repair/replacement parts will become harder to find & more expensive until there are none left. Just another tragic example of our goverment taking care of us
I believe you are mistaken, 99% of the documents I have read on this subject claim that 2 stroke motors over 50cc's will be banned from production starting dec. 31st, 2005, however motors under 50cc's, (chainsaws, scooters, weedeaters, and youth atv's and motorcycles) will be allowed to continue production. As bubba mentioned earlier, there have been many threads discussing this subject so if you're looking for more information search the forum. As for parts availability, being that there are literally millions of 2-stroke vehicles out there, I guarantee that all maintenance items will be available for years to come. The ban affects the future production of 2-stroke motors over 50cc's, but existing 2-strokes aren't going to be banned from use, and that being said, the companies that manufacture the maintenance items for two strokes will still be getting plenty of business. In case anyone is interested, there was an article I read recently, I forget where I got the link, probably this forum, but it discussed the possibility of a clean 2-stroke motor. Whether it will be used, I sadly doubt it but I'm a 2-stroke man, always will be, so if its an effort to keep the dream alive I support it.
