I had the same problem running without a lid. It ended up I couldn't flow enough fuel past the stock needles no matter how bug of a main jet I put in. GYTR needles fixed the problem.

Yeah, it would sputter like you're running out of gas if you're too rich, especially with black smoke, from what I have noticed with mine, change your needles back to the 3rd from the top, try .5 turn out on your screws either 3 turns or 3.5 turns, and I'd try and hit a smaller main jet, even try 155 160.

i would think your right about that but ive removed my exhaust just to test it and see if the restriction was too much and to my suprise it still was the same just ear drum shattering, without it i would think it would flow even more than an aftermarket one but maybe they are too big alltogether for the stock cc?

Maybe try checking the coil wire and all the other wires on the bike.

Exactly! When my Raptor was stock with the snorkle unrestricted and no spark arrester, 145-150 worked the best. No lid is a bad idea with the stock exhaust...with the snorkle trimmed more than enough air flow is available for the restrictive stock exhaust...even though the spark arrester has been removed. Fuel level too high makes a rich situation worse.
