What is so bad about MX on a banshee????

well people like to compare stock quads to mx....and people who are serious enough into mx will end up getting aftermarket shocks and a-arms anyways, so it doesnt really matter what ur machine is like cause in the end its gonna handle good anyways....i honestly think the shee would do good in mx cuz it sits really low and slides easy, but the low end torque is horrible and wont catch

I just have a hard time understanding what your taking about low end torque. No two stroke is made for it. But if you know how to ride one, you'll kick some a$$.

Mx is mostly rider, anyways...Ive been smoked by stock, and modded banshees on the track, it has gone the other way as well.
I would never wanna go through whoops on a banshee though!

Well thanks for all the feedback everyone.
Now it sounds like I need some shocks for my shee.
I probably will get some elkas but i dont know what type to get, or what would fit my 2004 banshee so if someone could help me dicide or give me some shocks to choose from and their opinion of the shocks would be great. They dont have to be elkas though.
Thanks for any replies...

I love hitting jumps on my Banshee alot more than on my old Raptor. The not having the engine decompression the Raptor had on the Banshee lets me stay on a gear pegged WOT as I come around a corner and on to the jump slow down some and not worry about engine decompression and having me nose dive.

I think the banshee gets a bad rap because of it's twitchy power band. You need to keep a bike like the banshee in the higher rev range (power band) in order to succeed with it.
It can be a scary machine if you fall off power at the face of a jump, etc.
It's ergonomics are not ideal...forcing one to be in pretty good shape to hold one pinned for the length of a moto. The stock suspension is up to the task except when it comes to "big" whooped out sections.
You see...around where I am...the motocross tracks are not big wide open straits...most tracks have pretty tight turns, followed by a jump or maybe some whoops.. that equates to a bunch of clutch work. The banshee, to me, seems like it would rather get into gear and go fast. All the modern day 4 strokes I have ridden allow you to concentrate on the terrain rather than up and down all around shifting. I really enjoyed running the 400ex on the track...I could run in only a few gears where the banshee went up through 4 and back down a million times through the race.
well...that's my opinion at least.
I say go for it on your stock bike...you will learn quickly enough what you like on the track. There is no way any of us can recommend mods for your style of riding.

The shocks are not up to snuff for mx on a shee but if you wanna be compettative the stock shocks aren't up to snuff on any quad... Just change your shocks and get out and hit the track. as you notice certain things that you don t like you can dile it in just the way you want. Ive seen guys on shees smoke all kinds of diff bikes on the track...
