ITP HD Tires

I need a new set of tires for my bike, I've been thinking about the ITP HDs, I know they are heavier then the XCs but would they be any better for the trails?

Kind of depends. The GNCC racers love them for muddy and wet conditions. I think the softer the dirt, the better.

I'm riding in mostly sandy dirt (south Jersey) with lots of ruts, hills and somtimes soft sand.
