Actually on mine it seems like I have an extra 1/4" -3/8" to play with, but I slide my carb as far in as possible. Is it leaking there or something? Or are you just worried about it?

The boot on mine is 1 1/6" long seems like it should be longer. does anyone know if thats the right length? It leaks around the front of the carb and when you really ride it hard it comes off and starts backfiring and running real rough.I put a regular hose clamp on it yesterday seems to be holding for now but we will see. Maybe it was the cheap clamp they put on it.

Mine also seemed like it was to short. I ended up putting a good stainless clamp on both ends of the boot. No proplems since. I think mine was sucking some air before.

i had that same problem a couple weeks back. my boot was coming of my carb and sucking in to much air causing it to backfire.we got the boot back on and it kept popping back off.wen u take ur air box cover off do pull on the cover it will pull the hose to the carb causing it to slip off. and u should check for dirt in the carb thats wut my problem was.
