Default piston rings

What is a ring compressor used for? I am going to take off my cylinder because i have a screw somewhere around my crank that fell down my intake and went underneath the piston. When i take the cylinder off i am going to try to get the screw with a magnet. The rings are going to stay on the piston im not taking them off or anything so do i need a ring compressor for any reason or is a ring compressor just used to put the rings on the piston. Do I need a ring compressor to slide the cylinder over the piston when i put it back on or anything like that?

how can a screw get under your piston??? did it fall down through the cam chain passage?? Anyway you usually only need a ring compressor to put the cylnder back on, but I have just done it with my fingers or a large zip strap. good luck getting the screw back out!!

no there is no cam chain its a blaster. i was just had the reed cage out and one of the intake manifold bolts fell down the intake and the piston was at the top of the cylinder so it just fell right down to where the crank is

well duuhhhh, you got a blaster, that answers how a screw gets under the piston. I thought you were talking about a warrior for some reason, brain fart on my part. You wont really need a ring compressor for that little piston, you can do it with your fingers..

No ring compressor needed, just make sure to align the ring ends with the pins on the piston they have to fit together there.

have you tried the magnet on a teliscoping attenna thing yet right though the intake passage?

I would remove the reed valve assembly and try inserting it that way with the quad at different angles first before pulling
the engine apart.. lean it on the side,, stand it up on the grab bar.. ect..

MOST IMPORTANT _______ DO NOT TRY TO TURN THE ENGINE OVER NO MATTER WHAT UNTIL YOU HAVE THAT SCREW OUT !!!!!
