The WOOLY is a great little ATV! We've got a Banshee, DS650, YFZ450 and a Wooly! The Wooly mods were as follows: We put on a after market pipe, Put filltered air holes in the air box lid, installed ELKA SHOCKS and put on some ITP tires & Douglas red wheels (HD) and a DYNO jet kit. The little WOOLY hauls *** and we use it around the ranch and take it everywhere we take the other bikes. My wife loves her WOOLY and with 4 wheel drive and reverse she never gets stuck. We pulled apart the swingarm and rear and front axles and made sure everything was greased properly. We also changed all the Differential lubes and put REDLINE. For the Price and performance you can't go wrong. It handles a lot better than the BIG 4X4 ATV's and still has the overall top speed. We'll buy another when we wear this one out. Buy a Service manual and stay away from K&N air filters and they let too much dirt into the motors. I would never run a K&N filter unless it was at the north pole. None of my Baja 1000 racer buddies use K&N filters as they are motor killers. K&N has a great Marketing program and many people have been duped by the scam. They sure flow great and they also flow so well as they let all the dust in as well!

Good Luck

What kind of air filter would you or your Baja racer buddies recommend?

What he is saying about the K&N's is true. My wolverine had all sorts of carb issues when I used a K&N with outerwears. I switched to a UNI and it has helped significantly. My Yamaha dealer's mechanic said he would not use a K&N for offroad. The Wolverine is a good bike. I am 5' 9" and 215 lbs and it does fine with me. It carves through the woods like it's on rails compared to most other bikes and the suspension is sporty. I lean more towards the sport bike segment, but where I ride you need to have 4wd on occasion. This is why I bought a Wolv. I would also check out the Suzuki Vinson because it might be something you are interested in. If you go with the Wolv a must mod is the Warn 424. It gets old riding around in 4wd all the time.

I have been very happy with mine all these years, yes there are bigger, faster quads, but the Wolverine is a great do-all mid sized quad.
agreed

In my opinion you will be perfectly happy with a wolverine. The thing that I like about it is the fact it's a utility quad but still has a sporty look to it. It's awesome in the mud, snow and any type trail riding. I have even seen a buddy fly with the sport quad guys on jumps. The only mods that I have is 25" tires and FMF pipe. And of course the greatest mod that was ever made the Warn 424.

Which polaris 500 did you out run? Also, how bad did the grizzly and prairie whip you?

Did you buy new or used?
