Default Warn 424?

Is it really worth the extra cost?

What are the pros and cons?

If you like to ride like a sport quad on the trail, it is a great item to have, mine handled nice before, but with the front disconnected, the back slides around a lot better, and you can whip it around in a tight spot a lot easier. Putting all the power to the back wheels makes for quicker take offs, easier steering, and makes longer trail rides a lot easier.

todster, my mods are pretty mild, but it makes the 25" tires spin like the 23" stockers, my son has a hard time keeping up with me on the trail. A lot of guys on this forum have the big bore, from 366 to 500, which would probably make the Wolverine fly. Nothing wrong with a .040 over or slightly bigger, cheap to do, I put it all together myself, just had the boring done, and the head ports cleaned up a little. You can get piston/cam kits at a lot of different places, or look at ebay, I saw some pistons, and a Hot Cam for a Warrior / Wolverine , along with all the gaskets you need. Coolguy, the Warn 424 is a neat little device that replaces your front driveshaft, and allows you to remotely disconnect it from a little pull lever mounted by the handlebars, putting all the power to the back wheels, letting you power slide like a sport quad.

coolguy,

It allows you to convert a fulltime four wheel drive quad like the Wolverine into a switchable two or four wheel drive quad. Basically makes it so you can switch from two to four wheel whenever you want. Makes the quad a lot easier to ride on the trails and throw around.

I have two buddies that have them on their four wheelers. They wish they had purchased these units a long time ago.

PS. I have a new 424 sitting in my shop. I will sell it to whoever wants it at my cost if you want it. I own a truck accessory store so I ger Warn at pretty good pricing. Ordered this in for a buddy and he never came through on the deal. I need to get rid of it.

Is it easy to install? In Canada the price is $369+15%tax (over $400) so I really dont want to pay a dealer to install it also. Can I do it with basic tools?

The only time consuming part is taking out the bolts on the lower a arms to get at the mounting bolts for the front differential, so you can slide it up to make room to take out your front drive shaft. Other than that, it is a fairly easy drop in part, mount the bracket for the pull lever up by the tank ( DO NOT DRILL THE TANK !!!!) and you are set. Great directions, minimum tools needed, very worth the time and money.
