Heres my question, I have a 2001 wolverine. I already have good aftermarket tires and I would like to put soe more mods on it. My first priorities are a warn 424 kit and a K&N air filter. Are those two worth the money and what other mods are worth while?

The 424 is a great add on, really lets you break the back end loose on the trails, makes it steer easier, I don't know if you are just putting the stock replacement K&N,or are getting the adapter plate and running a clamp on, make sure you run an Outerwear, or maybe just use a good foam filter, some people have not had good luck with K&N in real dusty situations. A good slip on muffler will also help get those tires turning better, and help with bigger aftermarket tires.

 

DO NOT RUN A K&N FILTER! I've got a 2003 Wolverine, a Bombardier DS 650 & A YFZ450 and the K&N filter lets way too much dirt into the motor. Use a good after market like a uni or a Pro-Design or use a stock foam filter. But whatever you do stay away from the K&N Gauze type filters. We used to run the Baja 1000 races and everyone I ever knew that used a K&N filter ruined a motor and always sucked in a ton of real fine dust and it killed the rings.

I use FOAM filters even in my trucks and all of our Bikes & ATV, K&N filters have a nice marketing program and they will kill your motors.

Believe me or ruin your toys.

I'm running the K&N filter with no Outerwears yet and i think it was a waste of $$$$$ Didnt notice any power gains, I wish I stayed with my stock filter!

But Im going to get the warn 424, sounds like this is the best mod for the bike

The Warn 424 is the best money that can be spent on the Wolvy. I really like my HMF pipe, but it is a little loud. Go with the airbox mod from www.nossmachine.com It works really well for keeping all the crud out of the carb by fixing Yamaha's horrid airbox design. Like was said before, stay away from K&N and go with a UNI!
