Banshee still runnin like poop!!! HELP!!!

Default Banshee still runnin like poop!!! HELP!!!

well im puttin the carbs back on tonight and trying the tube on it also..wish me luck!!![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

Default Banshee still runnin like poop!!! HELP!!!

Well i hooke dup everything...but now the one side is backfiring.. and the side that is runnin good has gas pourin out the overflow...I already adjusted the the float..any help?

Well, it definitely sound like you have a leak. Have you checked your tranny oil level, if you have a bad crank seal that will result in an air leak and your tranny level dropping. What about the crossver/balance tube between the carbs and the cylinders, is that there? Take some carb cleaner or propane gas (unlit of course) and spray/direct it towards different spots on the intake, like the boots, the reed gaskets and all over. If the sound of the motor changes, then that's where your leak is, but it's definitely a leak. Especially with you taking it off and on so many times, you could be getting frustrated and overlooking something.

My other thought is a broken reed petal or something, but you said you checked that.

tranny oil is the same level..the reeds are also good shape..how about the top of the carb? where the cable comes in..there was a brass nut that was loose and the top of the carb where the cable is connected would move.. i tighten that.. hopefully that was it...I cant start it now though.. too late, neigbors would be bent...But if air gets in there would it back fire from that?[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif[/img]

never know maybe have your ran a compression test on it? mu cousins did the same thing and after he bored it and got new spark plugs it ran like a champ. later to find out the it was jetted to high it had 39mm carbs and he had 2 290's in it.

yeah the compression is good..it has 260 jets in it, which r correct..

donno what to do...

Also if its not getting enough gas will it back fire?

how long did you ride it with the choke tube off? I put about 10 minutes on mine without the tube on, and I nearly melted a piston. 260's also seem a little lean for a piped/filtered bike. It also wouldn't hurt to sync the carbs.

Ran it not too long...How would i go about syncin the carbs? Im sure i need a special tool!! correct?

FMF.com said to use 260 jets for these pipes..

Sounds like your carbs are out of sync....
Are the tors units still hooked to the top of the carb?...I'm guessing no. When you turned that brass but, you adjusted the slide in one of the carbs. Look into the intake of the carbs through the airbox ( filter off). both slides should be opening and closing the same distance at the same time.

The banshee carbs also have a window that you can check this in.

This may not solve your fuel leak problem..but it's a start in the right direction. As far as the leak goes....lets get the thing running first...but I would take a stab at a warn gasket on the fuel valve. Even if the floats are adjusted proper....a valve that does not seal will still pour fuel.

how about fuel line and petcock. do u run an inline filter and can visually see the fuel flowing like it's supposed to? the petcock has a little screen in there that could be clogged and inhibiting the flow of fuel as well. backfiring usually means it's running lean, not always but usually.
