Just curious...My stock, piped raptor was at the top of second gear going up comp hill at the dunes. But, shifting into 3rd would slow me down. My front sproket is 12 tooth.

Will a 686 Raptor pull third up the hill?

 

ask 1BADRAPTOR about pulling 3rd, but keep in mind his ain't stock.

why yes .... I hold second for as long as I can, then before the rev limiter kicks in I shift to 3rd. A bit tricky but if you nail it, (atleast on the 450) it kicks real hard going into 3rd.

 

Real Easy, I would hit 4th sometimes but then it would lose speed then would have to go back to 3rd so I just tach it out at 3rd. dumont has a crazy Comp hill and third is a long ways up the hill if you Dumont duners know what I mean [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

I'm still semi stock 660...but I pull 3rd .....just ready for 4th but not quite....I'm running 12/ 40 though...I would be curious to know what gearing to run on an 02 tranny with a 686????Olds Hill and Patton Hill

What mods does your semi-stock Raptor have?

 

I pull third hard but it's not enough, i will be pulling 4th hard this year with 12/42 gearing or i may use 14/42 gearing and pull 3rd real hard, remember my bikes revs to 10K so i can make good power in third....

3rd is a good gear and it's best to shift before the whoops at comp and ride it thru the whoops...
