The yfz can only beat a raptor when its stock for stock for a short race...
A 686 raptor would beat the hell out of the poor piped yfz from the beginning and till the end of the race, no surprising from the yfz will appear this short/drag race.
come on whats even the question...

I have been there done that. A properly tuned, cam modded, intake, piped YFZ can beat a 686. The Raptor can be bad A. But so can the YFZ. I think the performance potential of the YFZ is going to surprise alot of people once the engine builders get into full swing. Keep in mind that the YFZ needs less hp than a Raptor to have equal acceleration.

So, if you have 686, 11:1, stage ? cam, ported/polished, full exhaust, what will be the difference in power from builder to builder?
They are all installing similar parts with similar specs.
Jetting is really the only variable, right?

There is a 686 out of Billings with something like stage 2 cam 11-1 pretty mild porting and bigger intake valves, he was racing up Choke Cherry (where the Raptor weight really shows up) and beat my YFZ (air lid off 165 main baffle out) easily. A few lengths by the top of the hill. There were a couple of YFZ's that would hang with him but they had some unknown internal mods I think.

Unknown internal mods? How did you know about the internal mods that he had done in the first place? Did you do the cam mod to your yfz? Sounds like you are making excuses. If he was flat out blowing you away thats one thing. But if it was a couple of lengths you have to face the fact that you just may have been beat.
