Suggestions how to keep plastic clean
#1
Picked up my Raptor 350 Fri., and plastic is white, I've taken out just a bit, and already have yellow crud on fenders (bug juice, plants?) anyway any ideas how to keep it from staining, my husband and son think I'm crazy, but it's just so pretty LOL! I've tried wd40, vinegar, degreaser w/ no luck. My other quads were blue, so not so noticeable. Thanks!

Theres a substance called plastic renew stuff that makes scratched plastic look new.. kinda like melting it a little and making it shiney. that worked on blue plastic but for white? it should work im guessing. welcome to the forums!!!!!!

Your husband and son are correct but that doesnt solve your problem of stained plastic. I would try goo gone, or one of the orange citrus based cleaners to see if that takes off the stains. You can also try some bleach. Otherwise, from one ATV owner with some white plastic to another, dont stress over the stains, they will happen and only get harder to clean over time.

As far as removing stains from white plastic... Buy a can of Berryman's B-12 carb cleaner. Put a little on a rag and wipe the stains with it. I haven't found a stain yet (including those worked in by sand and boot abrasion) that B12 wouldn't take off.

I put a couple coats of wax on the plastic, and it really helps protecting it. A very soft buffer wheel dipped in wax first will fix mild scratches. For stress marks use a heat gun, it won't fix it 100%, but it will blend the color very well. Just don't hold the heat gun in place for too long. With the wax on it really makes cleaning a breeze also.

There a handy little transparent layer called "Clear Guard" It protects your plastic making it look brand new also comes for head lights in defferent colors its easy to install and impact resistent i would recommend getting one. Here a link to their site : Clear Guard
