Yamaha Raptor 660

The stock Raptor may not be set up to everyone's likings. And I understand the frustration tha results from it's misbehavior.
But the Raptor is a Beast...That why they call it a Yamaha Raptor...not a Yamaha Sloth. Taint made for ******.
The Raptor needs to be set up for your riding style...and is an excellent machine with lots of potential to start with to create the ultimate riding machine.

You know... What I have found, is that people that don't like the Raptor are different from people that do like them. This is not all people...but I noticed a trend in my ATV experiences with the people I associate with.
People that don't like Raptors:
1. Hold their pinky up when they drink.
2. Prefer wine coolers to beer.
3. Drive German cars instead of american pickups.
4. Can't go riding because they are going clothes shopping with their wife.
5. Pluck their unibrow.
6. Think the 400EX is an awesome bike.
7. Complain when it's cold.
8. Don't like to get muddy.
9. Don't stay up with the group too party late.
10. Prefer smooth, sandy trails with no rocks.
Is it just me or do other people notice this too?

Ive been riding my banshee exclusively for the past 2 months or so and have left the raptor in the garage. Yesterday i got the bug that im going to get out the raptor for the sunday ride, and im glad i did. I was really impressed with the power just being everywhere, and i didnt have to keep it a gear high to stay in the powerband and such, it was a nice ride. However, those shocks need setting up for sure, it was kicking the hell out of me, super stiff, other than that its a great bike. Loads of power and potential, im definetely going to be keeping it and building the motor up and suspension. I figured of all the other quads out right now, none are so impressive as to me needing to sell the raptor and get something else when the raptor already has a lot of potential and will only get better. I do admit the banshee has a lot nicer feel at least for me, but you get used to that sitting up "higher" and it doesnt mean much after a while. As far as being tippy, not really. It's a little happy to pull up the front, but it can be controlled with a good rider. The only thing i dont like about it really is when you're at very low rpm, it really does not want to be there, if you putz around and play on hills, it WILL stall on you if you arent tappin a good bit on the throttle, all raptors have been like this that i rode, but im sure it can be fixed. All in all, find a good deal and go for it!
