Default Banshee jetting question

Just bought a 2004 Banshee, and I'm new to 2 strokes, Ive got the toomey T5's and the carb mounted K&N filters. Read some of the other forum questions on jetting so I put in 300's rode it the other day, ran alright until 6th and it fell flat on its face no power, no acceleration. Was wondering do I need to go down to 290's or up to 310's, Any help would be appreciated, I know there is alot of knowledge in this forum, have gotten through other problems just by searching it. thanks again

You need to do a plug check at full throttle with a set of fresh white plugs to know if you are too lean, or too rich.

Once you do a proper plug check, and see what color the plugs are, you will know which way to go as far as up or down on the jetting and needle clip position.

Thanks for the info, figured I would have to check the plugs just trying to take the lazy way out, this might sound like a dumb question but can you explain the clip position and how that works, thanks for your help

Unfortunately, there really is no shortcut to jetting. Too many variables, and everyones atv is a little different.

As far as the needle clip position, the needle has grooves cut into it for the clip.
On the top (blunt end) of the needle is the #1 position. As you move toward the pointed end, the groves are 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc respectively.

The lower you put the clip (IE 4th groove, compared to the 1st groove), the RICHER you will make it (meaning the more fuel you will give it in the midrange). To lean it out, you would move the CLIP up towards the #1 position.

Make sense?
