Purple Ice Coolant additive- Hot Raptor
#1
Has anyone ever used purple ice in their quads? It is supposed to significantly lower the operating temperature. Does it work?
My rap seems to run much hotter since the 686 kit was installed. I am looking for ways to cool it down.

I've used water wetter .. Same concept and I know it works... However, it only works WELL when you have a lower concentration of antifreeze to water...
50/50 mixture and it maybe lowers temps 5* or so... When you get down around a 10/90 or 25/75 mixture it is much more effective.

I wonder if my raptor is running hotter because of the after market plastic I am running. That Maier hood doesn't look like it would direct as much air into the radiator as the stock louvered hood.
It seems like my fan is on much more than it used to be. I added the plastic at the same time as I added the 686, so I am not sure which or both is making it hotter.
I added one of those finned inline hole coolers. It didn't seem to help too much.

You could try riding it without the plastic and see how much difference that makes.
My Banshee ran hot and I put on a PWR radiator from Janssen Racing (Ebay) and it helped cool it down. I didn't do a before and after temp test but there was a big difference.

Have you ever seen a raptor with it's front plastic off?? Ugly!
I'd rather see Rosie O'donnell naked.
I just can't ride it around like that.
I will try that purple stuff.

Also look into some in-line coolers on ebay, I just bought some for about 12 bucks and they look awesome and work well. Also think about a larger oil tank.....
They also make red line water wetter too......same stuff.....
You might also be able to wire your fan always on......

Purple Ice works great, I use it in all my race cars, dropped my engine temps 20-30 degrees. Also almost every other drivers that I know uses it in all there race cars, quads, and bikes. I deffinately do not agree with the straight water comment. 50/50 water/antifreeze mix has a higher boiling point than water. Purple Ice is great because you can use it with antifreeze so if you do ride cold weather you never have to worry about the coolent freezing. I have not used any other products except Purple Ice, but Im sure the others work great also. Its just like oil preferences, everyone uses what they have had good luck or experience using. I would deffinately run a coolant additive and possibly a in line cooler and you should notice a big difference.
