Purple Ice Coolant additive- Hot Raptor
#11
We use water in our airboat, because it is a high performance engine, and if something goes wrong, they don't want antifreeze to leak in the oil(??? I'm not sure about this, I know we don't use it for some reason like this)
additives are definately better though, get it.

I added an inline cooler as well to the return line from the radiator. It looks neat, but I didn't notice a difference in operating temperarture. I was trying to locate it as far away from the engine as possible.
I bet those in-line coolers dump more heat if they are installed on the hot line from the engine instead of the cooler line from the radiator.
Does anyone have any links to an aftermarket larger oil tank?

I havent had a problem with overheating as of yet, and I am weary of running these additives because I dont know how they react in low and sub zero temps. I spend a lot of time on my quad in the winter, easily twice that of my summer rides. So unless I start having summer problems, I am not going to worry about it.
I have seen that these additives work well on hi po bikes in the summer though, so I would check them out and see if it helps your problem.

maddog......I said that I have no idea why we run it, just stating we do........something our engine builder said(I was just suggesting that......don't know why).......These additives do NOT work well in the winter, the guys I have talked to in the Polaris forum about this stuff say it works well in summer, but drain it in winter(kinda expensive to be doing that stuff.....I guess you could save it too)......but do not run it in the winter. I think mostly why you don't run it in the winter, is the reason stated above, because it works better when mixed to a lower rate of antifreeze......I don't know, but do not use in cold temps.
