burned pre-filter
#1
I just opened up my airbox to clean my K&N filter and found my pro design prefilter had a large hole burned in the top, and several small holes burned in the bottom and sides. What would cause this to happen?

Is it backfiring or popping at startup or deceleration? The only thing that I can think of is that you are lean and it is backfiring through the carbs and filter and burning the prefilter. Do a plug chop and see what the plug looks like.

It does pop on deceleration. Does this mean that the jets are to big or too small? I used the jet kit from CT so I would hope that they are right.

Caliraptor is right. You need to turn the scews out in 1/4 increments on each side until the popping stops. Just remember not to go over about 3 1/2 turns or it will do no good, the screws are useless after about 3 1/2 and you chance them falling out. If it is suggested by CT then it's probably the right size, it just needs to be adjusted. When you screw them out, you give it more gas, so you are lean. If you go over 3 1/2, let them know and you will have to bump it up 1 size. Hope this helps.

Caliraptor, How do you like that 250R? I'm thinking about getting a trx250R, but haven't ever rode one. I want to get a two stroke to add to the collection but don't want to fork out that much money if I don't have an idea of how they compare to the power of a shee. How about the power of a trx250R compared to a lt250R?

Its really nice, the suspension is nice and the power is plenty. I wouldnt even line up against a stock banshee, banshees are way more powerful. I dont know how they compare to a honda 250r but I would assume they are around the same....with the honda I think you have more aftermarket parts though. If you want a 2 stroke, go for a banshee.
