Default raptor question

02 and up raptors are pretty much the same.

The 01 has more:

1. Trans failures.
2. Oneway starter bearing failures.
3. Bent rear axles.

There was a trans gear ratio change as well in 02.

That's the big things I can think of.

get anywhere from 02' and up and do not get an 01' with an 02' conversion who knows how they changed it.... when you tamper with a tranny in a raptor which goes fast as he!! it will never be the same

One ways seem to be a problem on all years, at least through 03. And I dont believe the axle is any different from 01 and up.

I would stay away from the 01, but open season on everything else.

I say stay away from the 01 unless it's a really good deal. I finally got a used 04 raptor recently and I couldn't be happier about not having to worry about the tranny.

The 01 axles are different. The nuts are different and the taper is different. They beefed them slightly in 02. The 01's were bending in high jumps.

It's really not that significant of an issue though. I my buddy put an 01 axle on his 02 raptor. It help up till he hit a jeep. Then it bent like a wet noodle.

The trans is the biggest thing.

I would guess that if an 01 is still running, it may have had the trans fixed already. They go out pretty fast with any kind of hard riding.
