I would say the big bear= geared low for steep trails and deep mud// i know what the mud is like upstate, sometimes me and by brother ride in mud with the bigbear and the grizz, and the bb as no problem keeping up/the kodiak is very similar to the big bear, but personally i would rather a manual for mud and trail//

i would either go with the honda rancher or the big bear because they both have a really low first gear for turning some good tires and and i agree with bigbeezy on the manual shift for mud My brother had a rancher and my friend has a big bear and there both tuff as nails

the big bear has an extremely low first gear, i drive with Big Beezy frequently and have seen him handel alot of tight trails, mud, and snow,(im always right behind with my recon). its a great machine, looks a little out dated but i still like it, it has some real *****. The kodiak 450 is good too, id get it over the kodiak, lo gear and diff lock, ... un stopable.
