yfz450 and kfx700 (getting one of them)
#1
I've read almost every post here on these quads and I am going to get one or the other this Friday. I've got a Green 04 V-force locally priced at $5699 (pluss dealer crapp fees) and a Blue 05 yfz for $6000 total out the door. I thought my mind was made up on the V-force but I am really leaning toward the yfz now mostly because of weight and size. I have yet to ride the V but have ridden a friends yzf quite a bit. Longevity, reliability and cost of repairs and mods are also an issue.
I am open to any opinions or facts on these two quads that might help me choose theright one. The type of riding I will be doing is nothing specific and all of the above. I have 2 days t make up my mind so please help. I am not going to double post this in the Kawasaki section FYI.
Thanks in advance!!

Go with the YFZ, not only is it quicker and faster but, more fun to ride because it's no heavy, it has gears, and handles good. I haven't heard of any problems yet on the YFZ, only the frame being pretty weak on the MX track, but that is reasonable because your going to beat that thing really bad in the track, and no stock frame could hold that. The V-Force is judt to heavy, and no that fun to ride, this quad is more like a utility quad. The shocks are also like a utility's quad, when you're are ridng slow, they are rider friendly, but when you go fast , that's when things start to get uly. Thought one advantage it has is, that it has reserve. This is just my opinion.

Caka..
Being that your not going to post this in the Kawi section, I think you have already made up your mind. I will agree with most of the above except for one thing. People can say what they want about the V, but there's no denying that it is ALOT of fun!
You have a choice to make between 2 different quads that are intended for different purposes. The YFZ is a super quick, lightweight racer that is a work of art from the racers standpoint. If I had the money, I would definately love to have one for throwing around a track.
With that said, theres no way that I would ever trade my V in for a YFZ. The reason is that I do more long distance trail riding and play riding than full on MX racing. The V is really lacking in the power department stock, but when you change the clutching around, open up the intake and exhaust, the V can be made as quick as any quad made today. and still be comfortable putting down the trails. Good luck on your decision. You can't go wrong with either bike as long as you use them for their purpose.

This is kind of a dumb post (sorry) Those two quads are the polar opposite of each other. The YFZ is a racer, pure and simple. it's small, nimble, light, and revs high. The KFX is a cruiser, it's huge, heavy, and has an auto clutch. It totally depends on the riding your planning on doing, if you want to go to the dunes, track, or any type of racing it's a no brainer. If you weigh 350 lbs and you want to ride around with your kids......then go get the KFX

Boy, this really is like saying "I have decided to either get a factory prepped rally race car, or a Ford Super Duty Crew Cab diesel, help me decide in two days". The V-Force and YFZ are about as far apart as you can get, and we have owned both, so I'm not just shooting from the hip. I have owned two V-Forces, and I bought my 14 year old kid a YFZ.
If you are less than 5'-6" tall and weigh less than 150 lbs --- get the YFZ.
If you are over 6' tall and weigh more than 220 lbs --- get the V-Force.
Anything inbetween, pick which one suits you best. If you want a really fast, good handling ATV, with great suspension, get the YFZ. If you want an all purpose ATV that you can cruise along the trail, and also take to the dunes, get the V-Force.

OK, I realize they are two distinct quads and it may seem stupid to compare and weigh the two against each other. Let me try to explain my reasoning. After alot of debating in my head I have narrowed it down this way. If I were going to get a larger displacement quad it would be the V-force rather than the Raptor, Polary or Bomb. I don't want to bring all of the reasons in this choice and I know there are major difference in these quads too BTW. Then comes the YFZ. I love this quad and I wouldnt consider getting any another 400cc range quad period!!! I also dont care to own a 2 stroke anything so the Banshee is out. Its either the YZF or I would step up to one of the big boys. Then my inital first choice would have been the Raptor but I dont want the 2nd best Yamaha out there right now (sorry no offense meant) I want the hottest thing they got and its the YZF IMHO. Since the Raptor is out of the question, the next thing that caught my eye was the V-Force for aot of reasons and yes brand being one of them ( Im an X ZX-12 owner). I also dont or care for or want anything that the other brands are offering. So there you have it it was or is one of these two. Like I said either one of these two will work for me and my non specific riding plans. I have never owned a Yamaha and I guess it looks like I am about to. OK I just made up my mind I am getting the YFZ its settled.
Now is this a killer price or what??? $6K out the door? No one else would come within $350 of that and many wanted full list price. What kind of deals have you guys gotten?? Thanks again!!

I was actually trying to decide between the same two bikes also. There is a V-force here in Vegas that will outrun most bikes and I liked the idea of a v-twin (own a TL-1000R) but I kept going back to the Yamaha. I decided on the YFZ because of the lighter weight and easier the throw around. Bought a 05 Limited for $6800 out the door and have never been happier.
