yfz450 and kfx700 (getting one of them)

Hey Trinity 748,
You insinuate that only huge fat butts who cannot ride a "real" quad would purchase a V Force. I own a V Force and a Raptor and I like them equally (and I don't weigh 350 pounds).
And to Caka who claims that the Raptor is the "second best" Yamaha, this is a very narrow minded statement. It is true that the YFZ has distinct advantages over the Raptor, namely a more high tech engine, much better suspension and handling, etc.... However, you seem to misunderstand the fact that the Raptor and V Force are not designed to compete with the YFZ in the first place. The Raptor and V Force are considered "all around machines". They don't excell at anything, but are competent at everything. The YFZ on the other hand does excell in the MX world but is not as good as the Raptor and V Force in many other arenas (although die-hard YFZ fans would not admit this).
Just recently, ATV Rider magazine did a dune shootout and the Raptor beat the YFZ. This was due to many factors like ride quality, low end torque and reverse.
In the end, you need to assess your riding style. If you are going to ride on MX tracks, you need to get the YFZ, no questions asked. If you want to do a little of everything, the RAptor is certainly not a second classed citizen.
Good luck with your choice, but realize one thing. No matter what quad you get, some other quad will be better in some way or in some situation do don't expect the YFZ to be the end all - be all of quads. There is no such thing, so forget what everyone else is doing and buy a quad that you will be happy with for years to come.

Longevity, reliability and cost of repairs and mods are also an issue.
(1) Any quad will last a long time, as long you perform the necessary maintenance on it. I believe the kfx700 is belt driven and if you do a lot of trail riding, dirt, water, and other stuff could cause problems with it later on down the road. Replacement chains are pretty cheap (Sidewinder). I'm not sure what those belts go for.
(2) You won't need to mod the yfz-450. If for some reason, it's power isn't enough, a lot of people put a slip-on exhaust on it, and it comes alive. Other than that, the suspension and drivetrain are already superb.

This is kind of a dumb post (sorry) Those two quads are the polar opposite of each other. The YFZ is a racer, pure and simple. it's small, nimble, light, and revs high. The KFX is a cruiser, it's huge, heavy, and has an auto clutch. It totally depends on the riding your planning on doing, if you want to go to the dunes, track, or any type of racing it's a no brainer. If you weigh 350 lbs and you want to ride around with your kids......then go get the KFX

Well its here and its great For the first time ever I had a great dealer experience and got a fair price. It was well worth a 90 mile drive to College Station. Thanks again for the info and opinions.

What color did you get?
Congrats on the new YFZ. Once you get the engine broke in a bit you can get alot more performance out of it by simply removing the airbox lid, stock spark arrestor, and rejetting the carb. We had to go up 6 jet sizes on the main jet when we made those mods, just to give you a ball park figure on jetting.
