400ex vs Raptor 350 Again
#1
Ok now heres the bottom line, my friend borrowed his cousins 2001 400ex and me and him lined up at least 6 times, running it though 4 gears.
400ex mods: Fmf bomb header, K&N intake, Razr2's, durablue extended axle, possibly cam
350RT: Stock
First run: I lift the fronts up hard and have to let it down, he pulls on me, wins by 4 quadlengths
2nd run: I launch hard out of the hole, keep the lead until i shift to 4th, where he pulls past me, wins by a quadlength
3rd run: He missed a gear, i won
4th run: Again i get the holeshot, i keep the lead until end of 3rd, side by side bottom of 4th where he pulls ahead
5th and 6th more of the same.
Every run that we both got good starts i would always take the lead until end of 3rd/4th gear. Theres the bottom line, a 400ex will smoke a Raptor 350 in the long run, but not off the line.

Apparently not, and i know what people are going to say, The 400ex rider sucked, this isn't possible, your smoking crack, etc. Im not trying to overglorify my bike or make the 400ex sound like a dog, i just told it like it is. A 400ex will win, but not by much. Im going to wait for a few mods and see what happens again.

Haven't had the pleasure of racing a raptor yet but I have raced a warrior with 3 different riders, one of which talked a lot of smack saying how he could take me. This was before my K&N and jet. Had an e-series at the time. We raced on black top. He kept up through first. Passed him in 2nd and by time I hit 4th I was at least 4-5 quad lengths ahead. And instead of letting someone start us, I just told him to go whenever he was ready. So forgive me when I call BS, because I just don't believe they made enough changes to the engine to really make a difference.
Not knocking the quad, just telling it like it is.

I agree with you, yamaha should have done alot of things to the quad, a liquid cooled 400 would have been nice, but it didn't happen. But with the changes they made it has become a better performing quad, i hope this proves it.

How of experienced rider are you... If you can hold your own on a 400ex, i'm impressed. Just to let you guys know the Rap350 "revs quicker" making it come of the line better than the warrior. I whole hearted believe VRaptor.
