The best mod I have added to my Wolverine is a Warn 424 unlocker. Other than that, the normal hop ups such as pipe and filter gives it a boost. Depending on how much you are willing to spend, some on here have huge power gains with FST kits. I haven't ridden with a Mojave since the late 80's, but I would doubt a 4wd, shaft driven quad could keep up top speed with a chain driven, 2wd.

Apparently that 2wd chain driven mojave hasn't met up with a stroked 435 wolverine yet. If you've got the power to do it, the 4wd gets you traction and that's key off the line. I've smoked warriors and didn't see the a$$ end of the banshee until I hit 5th gear.

I'm sure that top end overall might be a different story unless you come up against a stroked wolverine that's got the bigbear 4th and 5th gears installed. When that happens... forfit.

That sounds like one awesome Wolverine. Hopefully someday I'll be able to hop up the engine on mine. A friend of mine has an 03 Big Bear and it seems that it is geared lower than my Wolverine. I noticed that you mentioned 4th and 5th gear from a Big Bear. Are the Big Bear's 4th and 5th that noticeable of a difference? I know flying down gravel roads, I wish I had a higher 5th in mine.

Yes, the gearing for 4th and 5th in a big bear are higher than that of a wolverine. Overall, the big bear is slower due to the final drive gearing where the output shafts exit the engine casing.

Wanting a higher 5th gear can be accomplished... cost is around 250 from FST or maybe a bit lower from your local bike shop if they give you much of a discount. The reason for 4th and 5th is so that the jump from the stock wolverine's 4th gear to the big bear's 5th gear isn't as noticeable.

SpEeDdEmOn has done this mod and I believe he is quite happy with it. Since mine is apart right now, I am contemplating the additional expense since I don't want to tear her down again later to do it.
