Hello u all . My name is Char , I am a 23 year old female out of NEPA . I had a 88 Kaw. Mojave 250 . Manual w/ rev. . My 1st ATV . Had her for about 5 years . She broke "terminally" a week or 2 ago [ piece of the tranny. blew out the crankecase] . Anyway . This summer I am gonna get another ATV . I am gonna go new [ I'm young now , w/ no mortgage - "I gotta live, man , I gotta " ] . I "throughly" thought out how & where I usually ride . Mostly "cut" woods paths , then rail road trax paths & then jumps w/ coal piles here in PA . I have it narrowed down to [1] Honda Rancher 4x4 ES or the auto clutch . [2] the Yamaha Wolverine 4x4 auto clutch . I argued greatly w/ myself " racers r fun , ur Mojave was great on jumps " , then I say " but manuals do suc on hills { 4 me it did }" & " the whole getting stuck w/ a 4x2 issue" . So its the Rancher ES or the Rancher auto [ Wolverines look great - but more $ 4 less stuff compared 2 the Rancher , like no digital display 4 one ] . HELP ME .On my tranny issue ? Me, a person going from a manual 2 a ES , too "un-fun" ? Should I go 1/2 & 1/2 & get the auto ? I read the ES is nice , but 2 "un-natural" . Would it b 2 boring ? . I only ever robe my Mojave . I may just have 2 test drive 2 c ! WHAT DO U THINK ? .............thankx 4 read'n , luv me .............. =;~)

Wolverines are a very sporty machine while the rancher has a lot of low end tork.

I had a Rancher ES but could not get used to it, too unnatural. I think you would be happier with the Wolverine. Good luck with your choice

Thank u , OldMan & MudDog . I agree ,I think I am not gonna get the ES model . I think I do want 2 stick 2 Honda tho, I'm leaning towards the Rancher auto clutch 4x4 now . Yamaha - nice looking , less stuff & worse financing than Honda . Kawasaki - been there , done that . Polaris - heard / read & seen bad reliability . Suzuki - y go 4 the underdog [ now all that is what "I" think , no bash'n was intended in that statement ].............. thankx .............. luv me ........=;~)

Polaris reliability has greatly improved within the last year. However, it is smatter to go with what you are comfortable with, and stick with a manual, since that's what you're used to.

Call me crazy, but I would go and test ride every ATV the dealers will let you sit on that fall into your price range... you may be surprised to find the decision will be blindingly simple after riding them all.

I owned a Wolverine (first quad), and loved it but wanted more speed bought a Warrior (second quad). Sold it because I moved. Just recently bought a Raptor (third quad). Sold it 2 weeks later it didnt suit my kind of riding. Bought a Rubicon 2 days ago and love it. My opinion is go with the Wolverine it is very sporty and jumps nice plus 4x4, however I rode with a Rancher a few weeks ago and it went real nice and looked good also. By the way have you checked out the 300/400 Prairie?
