Uni or K&N. Which air filter is better for the blaster? Performance wise? Or is it just preference.

 

That depends on your riding conditions. Because K&N is a paper filter it should be kept away from real wet areas, where a good oiled foam filter will be alright. Also it's wise to use a prefilter, or outerwear on your k&N for good protection. I purchased a K&N filter and it was the biggest waste of time and money I ever spent. It didn't increase flow at all, because my jetting never changed. And I know that for a fact because I was using a EGT. They can claim what they want for HP numbers but in the end it's still the same ol crap.

 

I ran K&N's for years, but have now gone back to foam on all my bikes. I just want the security of something that I know is going to catch all the dirt. I am willing to sacrifice a bit of performance for total security. (I do still run K&N on my street machines.)

Hold a K&N up to the light. You can see right through the thing! All you have between your beloved, expensive engine is a little piece of gause that is full of holes. No thanks anymore!

But like shav0 said, what about adding the outerwear to the k&n? I don't do a lot of wet riding. Mainly a lot of dust and dirt to contend with. Nothing too awful harsh. As far as foam filters go, what do you guys recommend. All i've heard is K&N this and K&N that since i began riding. Now i'm hearing about these foam filters, so i figure i'll get some advice.

 

I use a Uni filter with an outerwear.

 

I bought the atv power pack from advantage performance and it came with a stock replacement k&n filter. Its garbage, it barley fits and you have to muscle the lid back in place. Im going to foam as soon as i get some money, the proflow kit with adapter plate is what im going to get. If your offroad stay with foam, thats the only way to go.

 

Alot of pople buy K&N thinking that it will give them more HP, but it truth it's just a stock replacment filter that really adds nothing.
