which one would you buy? Im looking for a ute around 500cc so i was thinkin about these two. What is everyones opinions?

 

Well I have now owned both. I originally owned a '02 500I, and traded it off for a '05 Kodiak 450. The Arctic Cat was not a bad machine but just too heavy. Needed plenty of revs to get rolling, thus causing excess noise if you were every needing to go hunting and not scare game. Then there is the heavy steering of the AC. My Kodiak with the locker engaged turns as easy as the AC did in 2 wheel drive. As for fuel economy, I think the Kodiak will be better in this area also. Finally, even with a smaller engine, I find my Yamaha is much more responsive. Now I will admit that AC may have tuned up the new 05 ACs, but I think they left the excess weight and the tranny the same.

I am sure the AC boys will come out and blast my opinion as that seems to happen on these forums, but these are my humble thoughts. I just know I am vey happy so far with my new Kodiak!!

I've had my 05 Kodiak 450 for 4 days now and I love it. I have about 6 hours on it now. I have found two problems with it . The squeaking rear brake and the grease nipples that are impossible to grease( but mine were greased when it was assembled). The new cats look awesome, and I own a cat snowmachine, but I went with the Kodiak after countless hours researching quads on the net ti seemed like the best atv for my needs, and I have a Yamaha dealer close by also, so I got to test drive it before I bought it. Happy shopping.

 

well im getting an 05 250ex or 05 300ex (depends on how cheap i can get it for lol). So the ute would be for the hard riding through thick stuff. I was just wondering how much power the 05 kodaik 450 has and what type of stuff it could go through. thanxs.
