Default 350 big bear tranny problems

hi atv forum users I'd like your help if you can I have 1987 Big Bear 350 4x4 with a manual 5 speed transmission with a Hi and low range, I've been plowing snow with it for the past 6 yrs. On the first snow fall of this year I noticed it started jumping out of gear, and tonight it jumped out of gear and I can't get it to go into any forward gears hi or low but reverse works fine. Has anyone had a similar problem or any ideas Thanks for the help.

My 91 big bear did the same thing. Take off the Rh side cover and inspect the shifter linkage in there. Mine had a loose srew on part of the linkage. I tightened it up and has been working great since

It had reverse only. It started out the same as you described, it would come out of gear go into neutral between gears and it just go worse and worse. Forward was like it was in neutral. When you take it apart the piece I'm talking about meshes with the shaft that comes from the shifter shaft. You will only need one gasket for the side and you can do it in the quad. Let me know what you find

I cleaned the threads, applied a little lock tight tightened it back up, put some fresh oil in readjusted the clutch and WOW bike runs perfect shifts gears like a new one. I can't remember it ever shifting that good Thanks again Mike you really helped me out of a bind , hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Rick

I also have this problem where everyonce in a while my '87 bear will act like it goes into neutral. Can any give a more detailed description of taking off this cover and adjusting a screw? Thanks.
