#1
hi all. still having the hot light go on my grizzly sparadically. seems to go on about 175 degress, then off, then on, etc. i have a HL temp gauge installed and the atv runs between 170-175 most of the time. what temp is the light supposed to come on at? also what temp does your griz run?

I had the same thing happening on my 2004 Grizzly. You will need to replace "thermoswitch #1" which is located by the thermostate on top of the cylinder head. It won't take long and the part will cost about 35 bucks from your local dealer.
There are two thermal switches on grizzlies and the second one controls when the fan cycles on and off and is loacted on the radiator.
I posted this same problem on October 8th, but no one was able to answer with good information so I ended up buying the service manual and fixing it myself.
The thermoswitches are very fragile and a simple drop will cause them to fail. Normally they are designed to give a hot reading at 217F.
Good luck

are you saying a drop of water will cause it to fail? or just read incorrectly? not sure because i got the light yesterday and i was not riding in any water.
thanks

The thermo switch is emerged in your coolant so water does not effect it, physical shock does. Dropping the thermo switch on your kitchen floor while you're looking at it will cause it to not work properly, don't ask me how I know this one. It's a thermo switch so they can not be calibrated just replaced. When you unscrew the thermo switch, it will look like a 30-30 cartridge with a spade connector. Since you already have a temp gauge installed you can ignore the faulty thermo switch and keep riding or spend 35 bucks and about 15 minutes replacing it. I have had these go bad on my diesel trucks also.
