What would you do??

Ok a few weeks ago I had ask why a 660 raptor would not go into second gear. Well I had found out why when I took it to the shop and it was no good news. Come to find out, my motor is going to be split apart for a new second gear. And the labor cost is unbeleivable. The question i have is what can someone do to the motor while it is apart? THANKS!!

You can get a carrillo or b&m rod, and a high comp piston, then send the thing to Failicon to be stroked, bored out, and balanced. You could also get a port and polish on the head done. I can have that done for you for about $200. You would also want to get some kibblewhite black diamond valves and stiffer springs. Then you can get 5 yzf 450 dirtbike clutch springs to help the clutch. Also get an L&A designs one-way bearing kit.
All of these are just suggestions of course...and what I want to do. (I've already got all the head work and clutch done.

Seems like they are fixing the tranny problem, well you could turn your motor into a 686, or even higher, but you need some money. If you do have the money, have them do some head work, and maybe put in a new cam in there. When my motor was open, they installed new titanium oversized valves. Well if you do something, you will have a new machine in your control.
By the way, do you have a pipe, K & N already?

no(do not have a pipe or k&n filter) i had not had the raptor for about 3 weeks now,the shop where i have it said a pipe would be better than a cam. I don't know that much about my raptor so I am going by what he says. OK I am wondering does a K&N air filter make alot of difference?

The YFZ has better acceleration, stays in the ground better, is a better jumper, but not as comfortable, and lacks the torque of the raptor.
