I am looking at a 2001 blue raptor for 3800, this thing is the cleanest used bike ive ever seen. The only thing i am worried about is the tranny. im sure this has been talked about alot. I was wondering if u guys have any suggestions based on ur past experiences. Would i be fine with it? Upgrade the tranny to an 02? how much would this cost in just parts? about how many hours would it take?

If you plan on installing the tranny, the quad would be around $4300 now, the 02 conversion is expensive. So you might as well look for a newer model.

 

I got my 01 MINT for 3200$, tranny works perfect. Its 450$ for a good kit. www.raptortranny.com

 

I have got a 01 Raptor 660R and just had promblems with the gears in the tranny second gear was gone in it. Its going to cost me somewhere around $1000. The shop where I am having it repaired said It would be about a 10 hour job.

Dude...i've got a smoking 01 for sale...engine and tranny (02 gears) have been rebuilt.

i completely rebuilt this thing and then they released the yfz. so it only has 5hrs on it from breaking in. PM me your email address and i'll send detailed photos. I've got most of the stock parts as well and would be happy to give you that stuff as well.

i also forgot to mention its got a brand new aluminum pingry airbox.
