I think King finally got the Sand Rail bug and sold the Turbo for that reason.

But, I know the turbo Raptor performed well (in fact, boost to boost I think it was better!) BUT it isn't the reliable set-up out of the box that the DS is.

There are guys running the DS KMS Turbo on a stock bike with the only other modification being clutch springs. One or two guys may have gone to a different (possibly lower compression) piston. Not 100% on this.

My understanding and experience with the Raptor: Of course you would need stiffer clutch springs but, also a new aftermarket connecting rod. I thought I heard of head gasket issues but, don't want to say for sure because I'm not 100%.

i agree with all the ds guys on the powerplant in those heavy bikes being bulletproof! if those guys get one of those motors in a drag frame that will hold up i would say theres problems for us rappy owners on the horizon!

Some of them don't need drag frames to give Raptor owners nightmares. I was unpleasantly surprised by one of Mr HP's 730s when doing some late night tuning at Aledo last summer, that thing was amazingly fast. We never lined up for an "official" race but that one informal run let me know that Eric had brought something to compete with the full blown drag Raptors. Too bad we got rained out, there would have been some really good Raptor vs. DS650 races.

Well, there is always next year for ATPT. Ron Woods is slowly falling into the shadows with MRHP and Pami still in constant development. The KMS stuff is cool, they just need to keep em' rollin. I was thinking at the 04 ATPT the biggest he had 715cc's there, but I am probably wrong. Either way, eric is a perfectionist, and will not give up on the DS.

Just curious, what has come out new for the Raptor lately performance wise?
Not trying to start any trash talking, just don't keep up with the Raptor much these days.

Are there newer cam combos that people are running?

What kits are putting out the most power? (Please don't turn this into a Craycraft vs. Kenz vs. Trinity vs. Sparks. . . just what's the best of each of them?)

Without anyone testing all of them in all the different motors at the same time, who knows?? I do like my new Craycraft cam verses the Sparks cam I had. Way more RPMs climbing and drag racing.

they are in two different classes in 4sw's... (Nitrous, Turbo, Alky are in the same class I think, Gas is in another)

I have personally raced Turbo DS's in the Cinders and my dad has raced the Turbo Raptor (which I was told is a tad faster than the ds) in the Dunes Thanksgiving... and have seen Scooby run on olds!

They are POWER MONSTERS but seem to have diffuculty either out of the hole or through the whoops???

Turbo Cinder Videos

Turbo Raptor Dunes Thanksgiving (look under Kelly's KMS Turbo vs. Dad

new stuff... we have some high velosity small porting stuff going on... new pipe designs, barker & pulse, a fairly new cam design, intake manifolds, cdi curves... and little stuff like that???

You are right, It was a 715 stock bore stroked motor was one. They didn't have the new cylinder yet (no 730) They had two stock bore & stroke stage threes. One stock DS with lectron 46HV & drag pipe only. All of them on race gas only except the bolt on one was running 87octane pump gas. The 715 only run on Friday @ practice before the storm Friday night. The 715 was never run Saturday @ the unofficial racing out back off the track. ATV sport magazine was there & wanted to see MrHp's bikes on the dyno after what he seen but the dyno guy didn't want any wet or muddy bike on his dyno saturday. Can't blame him (dyno guy) they are not cheap.

Your also right again, Eric (MrHp) is a perfectionist.
