Doesn't hurt anything, I think it gives you a little more hp from what I have experienced with mine, but remember, that is your spark arrestor, if you ride where you have to have one you could get a ticket. Take out the 10mm bolt on the bottom of the end of the pipe and get a cloth and pliers to grab aholt of it and pull it out.

It those hurt it sometimes, your quad will either run good for a little while then bog alot, till the point where it'll shut down, and wont want to turn on. Meaning you are going to have to re-jet, if this happends,a an about the power, it may give you some, but I thought it, it may give at the most 1 HP, if its true.

Baffle removal will give you as much or more peak power increase than most slip ons. You will need to rejet and the power is mostly gained at the upper rpm range but it does help. The slip ons give you better low end power and a little more throughout the rev range but a stock pipe with no baffle has singificant top end gains.

An engine is an air pump; plain and simple.
Anytime you improve the air flow through the engine you will improve the power. You can do this by improving the intake side or the exhaust side, raise the RPM or several other ways, or even a combination of the above.
How much power will you gain? That is hard for me or anyone else to say.
Are you going to have to rejet? If your jetting was on the money to begin with, yes you are. Most of the time people are rich in their jetting so most don't have to rejet.

I agree i own a 660 raptor. i have removed the baffle eight months ago and installed a k&n air filter. the bike runs better and i have no issues of bogging or plug trouble/ such as running lean or rich. my bike runs better than it did stock. it has noticeable more low end power and top end increase.
my friend who purchased his bike at the same time which is an 04 raptor. we did a test. which was remove his baffle first and install the k&n filter and test it against my bike. his bike with the baffle removed out performed my bike on low end and top end. not by much but it was noticeable. the bike with the baffle removed and filter was louder, and the front end came up allot easier on wheelies and throttle response.
plus it makes the bike sound better, where i ride there is no issues on baffle removel or noise problems or anything. you have to use your head though and not ride where someone may be offended and watch during the hot season not to ignite anything in the woods.
