My son's blaster is crapping out. He ran it yesterday and said it ran fine. SPuttered a little then ran good. He washed it today and then went to start it and it ran like crap. At idle it was fine, then when you gave it gas it sputtered, and spatted like if the choke was on. I pulled the left side cover off where the stator, or magneto what ever that is, took the cover off and it was real wet inside. COuld this have gotten wet and kept it from giving more spark when the gas was pushed. LIke if the timing was not advancing with the acceleration of the gas.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]
We checked the plug and put a new one in it, and the spark plug wire to see if it was dry. The bike is now in a heated shed for the night with the airfilter off and the stator cover off to dry out. We will see tommorow if anything changed.

 

Check for a strong blue spark. If you aren't getting one, chances are it was your stator(magneto, same diff.). I would also pull the carb, clean it and reinstall with new plug, and make sure you have fresh fuel. Good luck.

 

only one thing i can say to help... new gaskets so the insides dont get wet... and be sure to plug entrances and exits from the engine before washing

 

most likely water got int othe pipe...

 

water in the startor, my friends did that but would barely run with a load on it, i took it got it going down hill and tried to keep the revs high, finaly got it in power band, then just rode it around hard for a little bit. problem fixed.

 

Thanks all, water must have been on the stator, like I said before the cover had a lot of water on the inside. Anyway had in a freinds shed, heat up to 65 and the cover off and filter off. Went to start it today and it ran. I am going to go through all the wires and carb any way to do some prevent-a-maintence. Hopefully this does the trick.
Question.. if water got down the exhuast would it run like crap for a long time or a short time until the motor got hot?? We had it running for about 1/2 hour and it ran like crap under load.

if water got into the exhaust pipe, it would run like crap for about 1-5 minutes... depending on how u rev it. u would also notice water spraying or dripping out of the tip, unless it wasnt much anyway...

 

next time put a zip lock bag over the tailpipe so it cant get in through there

Well I went to put the filter back on, and stator cover and started the bike again, and it ran like crap again. It idled. but once i push the throttle it just went blah,blah pooo. (cool soudn effects). LIke it was about to foul a plug. Its a new plug, I cleaned the carb, airfilter, check all the wiring. confused;

So any other ideas, could the oil pump injector thing be pumping to much oil when I push the throttle?

 

you got water in the air filter and it got in the carb just run it hard for a while.
