Which Blaster 240 kit is the "Best Bang For The Buck"?
I am looking into buying a 240 kit for the Blaster. I would prefer one that comes with an all-new cylinder and head and also pre-ported. My question is which company's 240 kit puts out the most RWHP? HDP, CT, Trinity, Trenga? I have been reading lately about Hollywoods' 240 kits being fast but how come they are now selling CT sonic 240 kits? What is a ballpark figure $ for a well-built 240 Blaster? Thanks.

The only 240 I have personally rode was a vito's......and I was not impressed. From those I have talked to hollywoods 240's have been tearing up the track, and taking the hole shots consistently. I believe that he is offering the ct kit as another option that is avialible through his distributors. Even with the ct avialible I personally would still choose his designs, and the "set up for your power needs" that he can provide when compared to the other options you have listed.

Don't be fooled into the vitos, they claim that its ported but in fact it's not. They simpily send you a super stock piston to alter the port timing a bit. The real power dosn't come from the extra Cc's, it comes from the intake and transfer work.

Thats the problem with companies like vitos. They slap in a modified piston and call it port work. All they do is send you a super stock piston kit which raises the exhaust port and messes with the intake timing, really not effective in my opinion. I see now they have a 12 port cylinder out, in which they are using aux. exhaust ports. 2 stroke builders are always battling the problem of excessive ring and cylinder wear due to the exhaust port being to wide. A narrow port reduced power but improved reliability. A taller port restored lost power but made the power band real narrow. To get around the problem people started adding a pair of boost ports alongside the large oval exhaust port and about the main transfers. The two aux boost ports connect with the main exhaust port right before the exhaust flange.
The real problem with the blaster is that the cylinder sits too low. When the piston reaches BDC the transfer ports are not completley. Adding a spacer plate can be a nice addition, along with the port work.

When the piston reaches BDC it just uncovers the exhaust port before it starts heading back upwards again. Along side of it is the transfer ports which are now flowing the new intake charge for the next stroke. The problem is that from the factory the cylinder sits too low causing the piston to not uncover the ports to their full potential. Im not sure how much "power" it would add, but would sure be a increase. Not also will you be able to increase the surface area of the port but will also make the port timing longer, which is always a good thing expecially to evacuate all the exhaust gases from the cylinder.
