Default Yamaha Wolverine Top Speed

I have an 01 Yamaha Wolverine with many mods but not many engine mods. Today I went riding on 12/29/04 and I have gotten a new GPS for christmas and when I was getting my top speed I was doing about 47 with the RPMs almost topped and I was in 5th gear. I am wonderine if I should do anything to my engine because I know a wolverine should do about 58. BUT I WAS RIDING IN ABOUT 1 INCH OF SNOW. So I think my RPMs were high because my tires were spinning alot when I would Punch the throttle. Any suggestions on what to do?

try it again without the snow, and is ur tire pressure low or high?? if its low that will slow you down too.

I had a good amount of air pressure and it was a little to much I think. But im a 14 year old 105 pound light kid. Wouldnt you think it would be a little faster?

47 sounds awfully low, with your pipe, air filter, and how small you are, I would think you would hit high 50's without a problem.

I would run it again on bare ground, and do not forget that a GPS is not always accurate for a exact speed.

Ugly,

I just notice that you have a fmf megamax pipe on you wolverine, how do you like it? Did you notice a difference in power when compared to the stock pipe. I want to get a pipe for my wolvy and I just can't decide which one I want.

I like it a lot. I think it is one of the bestout there for the type of riding I do, which is all kinds. It is tunable and offers the quiet core and is forestry approved. I noticed a gain but do not have my machine tuned perfectly yet so I know there is more to be had. Other pipes are comparable but FMF is great to work with, and I got mine used off of Ebay.

run it on asphalt when the GPS is picking up good reception and tell us what you are getting.
