I usually don't take part in starting useless arguments. But I must make an exception....
In the post 'Raptor finished last at races' (or something like that) some moron made the statement that autoquads were for lazy people. I then said that statement along with another comment posted once (autoquads are for handicaps) were a couple of the dumbest things ever said on this forum. So it goes back & forth with so & so kind of making fun of handicapped people. Even implying I am one. Then some other know it all says I shouldn't post those things in a good post & I should start my own topic. So here it is for those 2 Saints.
Now let me say I work with some mentally disabled people a couple of who I happened to spend time out of work with, plus my mom sometimes must use a wheelchair because of a physical problem. So I'm not going to join in the hyjinks that some find fun, making fun of others. But to anyone who wants to join the two guys this topic is dedicated to and make fun of someone who is less fortunate than yourself go ahead & have at it. I hope you are proud of yourselves.

Wow!! I'm glad I didn't see those posts or I probably would have been banned from posting for the rest of my life!! Actually, probably not I've been dealing with people like this all of my life. You see, I was born without the lower portion of my left arm and people automatically catergorize me as "handicaped" (until they get to know me). To me, being "handicap" is not a physical or mental condition, it is the "attitude" of the person with the so called "handicap". If I sat around all day whining that I couldn't ride an ATV because I only had one arm, then yes, I am "handicaped". Quick story;
I used to compete in archery tournaments on a state, national and international level. When I first started shooting on the state level I had alot of guys come up to me and say, "Hey great shooting [for a one arm guy]" and "It's good to see you out here shooting [with only one arm]". My first year competing I didn't do real great. My second year I set a state record at regionals and went on to shoot a perfect 300 and win the state indoor championship. Now the same people that were praising me for shooting in their division filed a formal protest with the state and national archery associations because they felt that I should be in a "handicap" division. What a hoot!! I went on to set a couple of more state records and take six more state championships and third at nationals.

I've been riding dirtbikes and atv's for as long as I can remember. People were always amazed at how I could work the clutch with the end of my left arm. I never thought anything of it as I never knew anything different (it always cracks me up when people ask me if it was hard to adjust to only having one arm, I always ask them if it was hard to adjust to having two.. hehe). I've ridden the 400EX and the DS650 and have no problem riding anything with a manual clutch. Is the Scrambler eaiser for me to ride, you betcha it is! Is that my "excuse" for riding it? Now that's the stupidist question that I have ever heard.

Doesn't anyone get the point? It doesn't matter for squat that Andrew Thomas's schemes are not just about metagrobolism but also about favoritism. What's far more relevant is that Andrew is notorious for trying to destroy that which is the envy of -- and model for -- the entire civilized world. To begin with, his epigrams are somewhere between a scam and a sham. Let me rephrase that: If we let him pit people against each other, all we'll have to look forward to in the future is a public realm devoid of culture and a narrow and routinized professional life untouched by the highest creations of civilization. He has overstated his case against me by alluding to an illusory past. It is also worthy of note that he says that you and I are morally inferior to dastardly wishy-washy mischievous-types. That's his unvarying story, and it's a lie: an extremely amoral and lawless lie. Unfortunately, it's a lie that is accepted unquestioningly, uncritically, by Andrew's cronies.

Andrew should clarify his point, so people like you and me can tell what the heck he's talking about. Without clarification, Andrew's ideals sound lofty and include some emotionally charged words but don't really seem to make any sense. For your edification, I should point out that I've heard of clueless things like irrationalism and obscurantism. But I've also heard of things like nonviolence, higher moralities, and treating all beings as ends in and of themselves -- ideas which his ignorant, unthinking, conceited brain is too small to understand. There's a little-known truth that isn't readily acknowledged by flighty evil-doers: I find that I am embarrassed. Embarrassed that some people just don't realize that Andrew refuses to come to terms with reality. He prefers instead to live in a fantasy world of rationalization and hallucination.

Will his beer-guzzling lame-brained lackeys impose lascivious new restrictions on society just to satisfy some sort of pathetic drive for power? Only time will tell. Throughout history, there has been a clash between those who wish to defy the international enslavement of entire peoples and those who wish to spawn delusions of commercialism's resplendence. Naturally, Andrew belongs to the latter category. No one can deny that combative insurrectionists like him tend to conveniently ignore the key issues of this or any other situation, yet I am not up on the latest gossip. Still, I have heard people say that the poisonous wine of diabolism had been distilled long before he entered the scene. Andrew is merely the agent decanting the poisonous fluid from its bottle into the jug that is world humanity.

Please forgive the following sermon, but it can't be avoided in this discussion: If we take his tricks to their logical conclusion, we see that in the immediate years ahead, he will replace intellectual integrity with splenetic sloganeering. Andrew's henchmen are merely liars with charisma, as if it made any difference. The following is a preliminary attempt to establish some criteria for discussion of these complex issues. To begin with, some of us have an opportunity to come in contact with brain-damaged raucous gadflies on a regular basis at work or in school. We, therefore, may be able to gain some insight into the way they think, into their values; we may be able to understand why they want to focus too much on one side of the equation and not enough on the broader perspective of things.

Andrew relies on sweeping generalizations to "prove" that he has a "special" perspective on sensationalism which carries with it a "special" right to bamboozle people into believing that all minorities are poor, stupid ghetto trash -- and Andrew knows it. It may seem senseless to say that his most recent policies are irreverent, in bad taste, and inappropriate. Nevertheless, the position can be defended. It would be bad enough if his assistants were merely trying to defile the present and destroy the future. But their attempts to make all of us pay for his boondoggles are just plain tasteless. Are you still with me? Egocentric mountebanks have no business here. Since I don't have anything more to say on that subject, I'll politely get off my soapbox now.

In my opinion, cheap shots have no place anywhere, including the ATV Connection.

A while back, someone's sense of humor led them to post pictures of handicapped people in unflattering poses associated with ATV's.

I understand the family of one of the young men shown in the photographs contacted the ATV Connection, concerned about the invasion of his privacy and the joke made at his expense.

Whoever posted the photographs disregarded the fact he was ridiculing actual, living human beings, who, along with their families, have thoughts and feelings, along with a right to some dignity.

While I did not see the photographs before a moderator deleted them, no one would want a family member or loved one portrayed disrespectfully.

Yet, when the pictures were deleted, the cry of "Censorship!" was raised on the Forum, a cry still echoing in some places.

If that be "censorship," thank goodness for censorship.

Glamisboy,
While your rant was almost as good as one by Dennis Miller, it still does take way from the fact you like to make fun of handicapped people.
Too bad 440 deleted his own post it was the best one on here. You also had some line about being glad they make ATV's for handicapped people & you tried to pull it off like you were serious. No-one on here is dumb enough to believe that.
I said I work with mentally challenged people & spend time with a couple of them. So you write this line.
"To begin with, some of us have an opportunity to come in contact with brain-damaged raucous gadflies on a regular basis at work or in school. We, therefore, may be able to gain some insight into the way they think, into their values;"

Brian damaged raucous gadflies????? Is that what you call someone who is mentally challenged? You are getting more sensitive already.
