Regular Motor Oil

Default Regular Motor Oil

I was wondering if anyone else has heard about using regular motor oil in the ATV's?

you can use this new oil for 4strokes it's located in most all auto part stores and is only like 2.19 a quart

I think its Castrol 4ATV if i'm not mistaken... I'm proably wrong [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]

Valoline makes a convemtional oil for atv/motorcycles, in 10w 40.

I have heard that oil is pretty much the same if you use it in your truck you can use it in your quad.

RED FLAG!!!!!!! Please don't try to use regular oil in your quad. ATV and Motorcycle oils are made specifically for 4-stroke or 2-stroke engines. I made this mistake when I was in a pinch and needed oil before a race...

Cycle-specific oils are designed with a special polymer for wet-clutches. After putting regular oil in my quad, my clutch developed severe slippage during the race, and luckily, it held on until the checkered flag.....It cost me good positions, but the clutch stayed together...

I got home, drained the oil, put ATV oil back in, ran it through the gears, and changed the oil again.

In the next few rides, I could feel the clutch slippage going away a little at a time.....now its back to normal...[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]
