I also know that the 01 raptors had clutch problems and reverse, maybe someone could give you more details.

We just replaced the clutch in my friend's 01, it was still stock and was just starting to slip. Part of that was due to poor cable adjustment for a while too.
There are no reverse issues, just no limiter.

Well it's not from experience but I have heard of other forum members that their cluth burn easily, as you see I don't really know?

Funny how rumours spread with no empirical evidence to back them up.
The transmission and one way issues on the raptor are proven, but nothing about the clutch or the reverse other than its a high gearing and the limiter sucks.
If only we could keep stuff like this from spreading, but I guess its just another fact of life. When you get 50K people together some bad info and rumours are sure to surface.

alright, it was a blue 2001 raptor, guy didnt know how many hours on it. the tires still had some "****" left on the outside so it couldnt have been that many hours. Fully stock, clear title, never been serviced for anything major. it ran good through all the gears too, even reverse, though i plan on not using it much. the only thing was that the plastic was a little scuffed up from swinging your feet over and your shoes catching the rear fenders. all the underneath looked good, and it also had bellypan skid plates and swingarm plates. chain and sprockets still looked new. air box was very clean and so was all the underneath. no oil leaks either. other than that that was about it. oil was good looking, he ran yamaha oil in it all the time. all the wheel bearings, a-arms, and tie rods were good on it too, no slop.
the guy was asking $3200.00 and it booked for 3400-3900 (kelly blue book) 3950 (nada)
and he sold it to me for $2800.00.....im going to get it tonight.
good deal?????

$3500 pretty good for a 03 then i guess. Thats what i gave for mine it was a bank repo. Fenders have bad stress marks and was missing the rear grab bar, but other than that it runs great. I did have to replace the one-way but now it starts better than it probably did when it was new. Also using 100 octane gas. Runs and starts great. It was a chicks by the way, from what i understand she bought it for her boyfriend they broke up and she quit paying for it. Nada was like $4600 or $4800 i think. Anyways my first quad and i love it.
