Buying a 05 Kodiak 450 advice

I'm not sure if there are 2 on the belt housing. there may be a second snorkel just for the airbox. but the one that wiggles loose is near the middle if the machine, on the top/rear of the belt housing. i remeber my clamp worked looose and got chewed up in the driveshaft, right in the middle of the quad. there is also a drain plug on one side of the plastic, to let water out of the housing if you somehow swamp it.

ok, i am familiar with the drain plug.... just wondering where the snorkel was... i know there is a snorkel at the front of the machine beneath the LCD panel... or in front of it but... you know what i mean, and then there is another snorkel at the rear of the machine, under the yamaha plate in the center or the rear plastics.... so i take it that it is the front snorkel coming loose where it meats the housing for the tranny?

new ride is that price including taxes or not. Well being we have the outragious tax here i got mine for 6100 delivered to my door step with maxxis wheels 26inch mudlite tires the winch and the extended warranty. THey also gave me the factory tires with it. I thought I got a great deal compared to what i have seen some people pay for theirs.

Me and my buddy got ours at Romney Cycle in WV too. I got the camo version with winch installed ($69 for winch, $100 to install), and it ran me about $5,900 or so. I got a trailer for it there too, so am not sure on exact figure for the ATV and winch.

MM, the snorkel is definitely near the middle of the quad, near the driveshaft. i remeber the clamp got chewed up in the driveshaft. it's behind the plastic. i think the one up front is for the airbox.

I have a Kodiak 450 4x4 and had it stripped down last month, to clean it and rust check the frame. I think the snorkels are: The front is going to the belt drive case, and the rear is going into the rear of the engine. The air intake snorkel takes in air between the gas tank, and the gas tank casing. If they come lose, I think it would be an easy fix.
I have had my Kodiak now for 4 months, it's been in water up to the headlights, mud up to the top of the tires, and now snow. Works perfectly. Haven't had any problems. Only thing I see that could be changed is the Diff. Lock. It is electronic, and sometimes need to wait for it to lock in. Sometimes it takes turning the handlebars, other times just hit the gas. It will not give you power until it is fully locked in, good feature so you don't rip the gear case out. But I think it should be operated from pulling a leaver on the handlebar like the kawasaki has. I wouldn't trade it for anything else, has everything I want, power, stability, and comfortable to ride. Here in Canada, they are a little more pricy than the US. $9700Tax Inc.
