What to inspect (02 Raptor)?
My brother-in-law wants to buy a Raptor. He located one near my town and wants me to go look at it for him. I don't know alot about Raptors and have only a little seat time on them. I would like to know specific things to look for on a 2002.
Thanks for your time.

the first thing to do is check out the guys garage....if its a **** hole then odds are he didnt take good care of his stuff and its prolly been p1ss pounded. check the underneath for scrapes and dents. a-arms, swingarm. lift the tires up and check the wheel bearings. check the sprockets and chain. also check the oil and all liquids. make sure the gears are all good and also make sure the vin # hasnt been scratched out of the frame. look for white creases in the plastic, if there are some that means its more than likely been hit, smacked with soemthing, or swatted with tree limbs. overall though, if the guy has a clean place and other clean toys there then odds are that its a good bike and hes not just trying to peddle the thing.

Rear axle bearings
Starter- the one way bearings have been a problem. If it doesn't grab every time or make kind of a crunching noise it probably is going bad.
The oil tanks are weak and crack real easy where the drain bolt is.
Check the case by the sprocket. If it's ever thown the chain it probably broke off the mounting tabs for the case saver.
Check to make sure the choke works. The plungers have been known to sieze in the carb.
