The law is 94 db, but they usually allow upto 98 db and still let you in. The meter is placed 18 or 20 inches from the end of the pipe at a 45 degree angle. The motor must be reved to half the max operating rpm. 250R's and Banshee must rev to 4000 rpm for the tests. Hope this helps.

It really depends. The sound testers are usually not out there until afternoon, so go in early and don't leave. However the exhaust system must have a spark arrestor or they automatically turn those away without. The best way to get a loud ATV in is to haul it in the back of a pick up truck, then unload when out on the dunes.

During the summer months i go up to silver lake almost every week, and i have the dmc alien full exhaust on my raptor, and if you have ever heard that pipe, you know it is very very loud on a raptor, i have never once had a problem getting in, i have the spark arrestor (you need this to get in). I just stay off the gas and cruise right on in, untill i get through then its wide open from there. by the way i have never seen them sound test somebody, all ive seen them do is look for spark arrestors, hope this helps

Dont let anyone kid you, they do test test DB levels at Silver Lake.
They dont do it ALL the time but I have seen them test at all times of the day even in the morning when they start letting people in. But that doesnt mean that all is lost. They tested me at 99dbs and let me in.
They usually test on heavy weekends.
Its really hit and miss as far as testing goes.
Hauling it in on the back of a truck doesnt guarentee entry either, I have seen them make people fire em up on the truck and test them also. They are wise to that trick.
Its places like this that I like pipes that use the Super Trapp spark arrestor because you can get through the gate with 8 to 10 discs on , then once in the park we just add more discs. 16 discs let the pipe breath just as good as an open pipe.
I have dynoed my bike with 16 discs on and open and the jetting didnt change.
If you get there and get tested and cant get in , theres a place called "David Allen Racing" right there at the driveway into the park, they can hook you up with something that can get you into the park. They carry tons of stuff.
